Dr. Alan O. Blanton opened his practice in Collierville in 1983 after graduatingfrom the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Dentistry. For the last 35 years he has maintained his general family practice in the same community where he raised his own three children. For the last twelve years he has also treated patients diagnosed with sleep disordered breathing, especially in the forms of Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Primary Disruptive Snoring, with Oral Appliance Therapy. In 2014 he became one of only 325 dentist nationally (and 4 dentists in the state of Tennessee) to earn Board Certification in Dental Sleep Medicine by the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine. For the last three years he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, as well as a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Tennessee Dental Association, the Memphis Dental Society, the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and the American Academy of Orofacial Pain. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine and an Associate Professor and Director of the Dental Sleep Medicine and Orofacial Pain/TMD program at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Dentistry.
