Dentistry for the 21st Century
Dental technology has changed tremendously over the past few decades, and we’re extremely excited about it because the newest tools allow us to provide an even higher quality of care in less time and with less discomfort. We can now do many things that we simply couldn’t in the past, and in the end, it’s always the patient that benefits. Dr. Blanton works hard to keep our office on the cutting-edge of the latest advancements, and you’ll be amazed at how we can use technology to help you glide through your appointment.
This small camera-tipped wand allows us to create high-resolution images of your teeth and gums and display them on a chairside monitor in real time. This will make it much easier for our team to catch any dental issues you might have early, especially those that might be hidden from the naked eye. Plus, this will give you a chance to finally see your mouth from your dentist’s point of view, providing you with valuable information that will make choosing treatments much easier.
X-rays have been an essential tool in dentistry for years because they allow us to find problems that might be hidden below the surface of your teeth. We now only use digital x-rays, making all of these issues problems of the past. They can create images almost instantly, no chemicals are needed, and they even emit up to 90% less radiation than traditional x-rays.
Digital Impression System
Have you ever had an impression taken using dental putty? If so, we bet it wasn’t exactly your favorite experience. It was cold, it was messy, and it might have even caused you to gag. This is why we now only use digital impressions when creating teeth restorations.
As part of our high-tech CEREC system , we’ll use an advanced scanner to create a fully digital 3D image of your teeth in a matter of seconds. Not only is this experience more comfortable, but it also creates a much more accurate model of your teeth, increasing the quality of any treatment it is used for.
Soft Tissue Laser
With this device, we’re able to perform sensitive periodontal therapy on your gums virtually pain-free. It uses a highly concentrated beam of light to eliminate plaque and bacteria that has accumulated along your gum line, and thanks to its precision, it won’t affect any of the surrounding tissue. This will not only reduce the discomfort you feel during the procedure, but it will also ensure a much easier recovery time as well.
Rotary Endodontics (Rotary Root Canal Therapy)
Root canals get a terrible image in television and film. They are often portrayed as the "worst possible dental procedure" one could be subjected to ! Nothing could be further from the truth. Perhaps if you read William Goldman's Marathon Man or you saw the film by the same name starring Dustin Hoffman and Laurence Olivier (as the sadistic Nazi dentist, Dr. Szell) your perception of root canal therapy might be a bit skewed !!! But remember, there was no local anesthetic used for a reason, torture was being utilized as a motivation to secure information !
In real life, and especially in our practice at Aesthetic Dentistry of Collierville, PLLC , your comfort is our primary concern. Dr. Blanton will use plenty of local anesthetic to keep you comfortable. And on top of that, Rotary Endodontics gives Dr. Blanton the ability to complete your Root Canal Therapy in one easy, efficient appointment. In many cases, Dr. Blanton can complete all the procedures on a tooth requiring Root Canal Therapy in that single appointment. Thirty plus years ago, when Dr. Blanton began in Dentistry, performing a root canal could take up to 3 separate appointments and if the tooth required a crown to complete the procedure, that could be an additional two more appointments as well. A total of FIVE appointments for one tooth that now can be done in a single appointment thanks to Rotary Endodontics and our CEREC Single-Visit Crown System.
